Evergreen notes

I take notes so that I am forced to really understand things. I find that, at least for me, taking raw, passive notes, with no active engagement, is close to useless.

Often, the simple act of accumulating content can give us a sense of learning and improvement. I think that’s merely an illusion. Real learning comes from the active effort to understand a subject and its connections with other things.

When reading about something, I try to write notes in a way that makes it easy to form connections with other ideas and evolve over time. This is because new ideas often emerge from previous thoughts.
